Choice of brake pads for replacement
Hi there,
I'm driving an '08 AP2, Type S. Recently my mechanic told me I need to have my rear brake pads changed.
I asked for OEM but he told me those are crap, and he recommended me Vetto (Premier range). The box said "OE standard" for "Accord92 - Prelude" and "replaces AN-492WK".
He said this brand Vetto is much better than OEM. I read on another forum later that this might be a poor quality brand. The brake pads are also painted an awful red colour (not the braking surface but the part that you can see when looking through the rim).
Have a few questions.
1. Has anyone heard of Vetto?
2. Will using crap brake pads harm any part of my car or braking system? Is there any downside?
3. Generally speaking, what is a good brake pad to use if I only drive on the road (about 2,000 miles a year)? Or rather, what are the considerations when choosing a replacement brake pad?
Many thanks!

Many mechanics and shops will sell you pads that make the most profit for themselves, do you really think that these guys do any independent testing of all of the brake pads out there ? Just hearing someone say that OEM pads are crap leads me to believe they don't know what they are talking about.
Saying that Carbotech 1521 pads for street use are my favs, good initial bite, low dust, I've never been able to get them to fade no matter what I throw at them, they are rotor friendly too. Other than that go with OEM.

You should be more concerned with pairing front and rear brake pads. For a bias concern. For your specific needs stick to OEM. Especially if that's what you have in the fronts.
