Checking the oil in this car SUCKS!
Maybe there is something wrong with mine but I have to read the dipstick level five or six times to get a clear view of what's in there. I am reading it on the right side as well which by the way is one of the most ghetto engineered things I have seen in a awhile. I love this car but hate the little BS things that never should have been!

Do you check it when completely cold? I check it before each drive, before starting it up. I have no trouble seeing the level quite clearly. Once it's been started up, it gets tough.

I find that if you check it hot, you should wait at least a minute or two for the oil to drain. Once you pull the stick, and wipe it off, put it back into the engine as "straight" as possible, so it doesn't drag the sides of the holes as it goes in. Pull it back out as straight as possible again, and read the driver's side of the stick.

Maybe my tube is bent down in the oilpan. I have to jack around with it for awhile to get it right cold or hot. Straight in and out doesn seem to work great either. I kinda have to slide it down the side of the tube.

Ill try the pulling the stick idea when I start to fillup and then check it when Im done. That should give me a couple of minutes. Still a PITA if you ask me. Hop on one leg, scratch yourself, wait 3 minutes, AND then you can check the oil.
