Check Engine Light Q

Check Engine Light Q
So today my check engine light came on when I was running errands in the car. First thing I assumed was the gas cap not being fully tightened down. Sure enough, that was the culprit.
So my question is how long should I expect the check engine light to be on for? After tightening it down, I read the manual and it said at least 3 trips. Not really worried, just annoyed that the light has not been deactivated for 4 drives today (roughly 15 miles of driving since tightening the gas cap).
Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance.

I'd drive it for another 15 or 20 miles and see if it resets. That's happened to me before on my Suby and it took about 50 miles of driving before it shut off.

It happened to me once. If you want to verify for sure it was the gas cap get your trusty paper clip out and count the CEL flashes...
Once you have concluded it isn't something else reset the ECU. (remove Neg. battery cable for a bit) pop it back on, tighten it.
start the car. It will run like ass for about 10 minutes and possibly stall once or twice until it relearns the correct map for your environment and driving style.
