Thumbs down Check Engine Light P1404

After about 1.5hrs of driving (from school to home) my check engine light came on. I was but 5 minutes from town when I noticed the yellow light pop up. I quickly went to the nearest Advanced Auto Parts and asked them to pull the code.

DTC (Codes)

P1404
Manufacer Contrl.
Auxiliary Emission
Controls

The above is what was printed out by the machine.

I have not modded the car recently and the car is relatively stock. The only thing I've done recently is fill the car up as I had a long trip ahead of me. It is not the gas cap as I just stepped outside to check it.

Mods:
Gutted Airbox
Resonatorectomy

What could be the problem?

EDIT:
The 7,500 check up. I fixed it.

I don't see such a code listed for an S2000.

It's not in my 00-03 manual at home. IIRC, It's a EGR code for other models, The S2k is not equipped with a EGR valve.

I looked through the sticky at the top and I didn't find it either, thinking the list was incomplete.

I just posted what the printout said.

After about 15 minutes of poking at my car, I tried the trip reset again and the CEL (maintenance light) goes away.

The CEL and maintenance light are the same thing correct?

The CEL and Maintenance req'd light are very different things. Where did you ge the code pulled?

I have a feeling the code was for a previous car the tester was hooked up too.

Ok, I feel quite retarded now.. Three years on this board and I can't distinguish the difference between the CEL and Maintenance light.

I got the code pulled at Advanced Auto Parts.

Is the CEL the oil dropper looking thing?

The CEL is the yellow light that looks like a engine.

The red light that looks like a oil lamp is the oil light. You may want to check out the Owners manual.

If you are looking at the "oil dropper" light and went to get a code pulled, they pulled a non-existent code when your low oil pressure light was on. GOOFY!

I was just guessing. It was the maint req'd light that came up when I went to pull a code.

Same sort of thing. A MAINTENANCE light should not throw code. I wonder what they saw.

ps. You can close this thread using the options at the bottom or Slow can dump it for you.
