Default Check engine Light.

Its a long story, but I hit a fresh killed deer that rolled out of a back of a semi truck. We were running about 65mph and no where to go but hit the deer head on. The S2000 hit him dead center, we ramped him, no body damage, a lot of blood on the rear end, and a bunch of deer on the undercarrage. Thats not the problem. The problem that I have is the Check Engine Light came on at impact. Where should I look or what are your suggestions? I've got the S2000 up on stands in my garage, all the wiring conections are intack, but its a nasty mess under there, been cleaning for 2 days straight so far. Any Ideas where to start? Thanks, Ed

check the FAQ section above for resetting the check engine light. once you pull the fuse and put it back in, it shouldn't come back IF it was a fluke read out - which can be the result of a jerked car or some other unknown. IF it comes back then take it to the dealership. that's my two cents.

Ed, total stab in the dark but good chance the O2 sensor or wiring harness to it got shaved by the deer.
Also, did the car stall or roll backwards in the incident?

Nothing seems to be missing or torn off, but I figure the 02 sensor on the CAT took a heck of a rap. Will let you all know the out come. I'm still in the progress of cleaning, this is going to take a while, you just wouldn't believe what it looks like. Thanks, Ed

Just my guess too, but you should also remove the bumper and check the air pump and air pump relay located on the driver side. Check the fuse of the air pump under hood and wiring and harnesses.
I think it can go wacky on impact from front.
I am also in the midst of fixing the check engine light came after light impact so that is why I am suggesting.

But it can be anything.

I am sorry that you are involved in the mess. Hopely your car will get back to normal soon.

Give us an update as soon as anything happens.
