I wouldn't trust the dealer on the Diff. fluid, they tried to give me Vtm-4 fluid (I think that's right) which is for the Crv and not to be used in the S2000.

I'm also running Mobil 1 at the moment.

Honda MTF and Mobil 1 75W-90 are easy to find. I'm currently running Amsoil in the transmission and differential.

DO NOT ask Honda for diff fluid.

inferior in term of what?

OEM juice are engineer to provide a decent change internal, performs to spec for the whole demographic of s2k buyer.

you might get a race oil that provide excellent performance for short short period of time but it might not loaded with addictive and anti wear package for extended use(which most racer don't care for and don't bother with)
As usual, people need to qualify what they mean by "best" or "inferior" in this case. That applies to anything in life -- not just car stuff. For street use Honda MTF is a very good choice. Race fluids aren't always suitable for street use unless you're willing to increase your fluid change intervals and deal with other potential consequences. Don't assume that racing products are universally better. They may be better suited for racing/track applications. Read up and determine what suits your needs.
