what would be the negative of changing the oil with some fresh stuff?
Waste of money.

Some people will also swear to you that the initial "break-in oil" should be left in for 3-5K miles. Supposedly it has extra molybdinum added to it to help get the engine broken in properly.

Definitely wait until the oil life indicator comes down to 15-10% and then go ahead and change it. I went into the negative on my Acura's oil life (which in my particular case was well over 5,000 miles), it's really not a big deal... engine oil is very good these days, even the non-synthetic stuff.

Great info guys.. I will first check the oil level and top it off with 10W-30 if I need to then I will wait till 10-15% oil life then get it changed and use non synthetic the first time..

For the 2nd oil change, I will use Mobile 1 Synthetic..

Thanks again!

We have no wild rats in Alberta. Besides, that rat piss is not the main problem. It's all those little "Glossettes" at the bottom of the glass that gets stuck in your throat.

You shouldn't change to synthetic till, what is it, 10,000 miles? It says in the owners manual.

wtf is a "Glossette"? Or do I really want to know?

btw - Yes, wait until 10K plus miles to switch to synthetic. Unless you go FI before 10K - then I'm not sure what you should do.
