this statement is not true, a 5w30 synthetic vs a 5w30 dino can have the same viscosity.
*sigh*

apparent viscosity when cold...ever hear of pour point and cold crank apparent viscosity? compare the pour points of synthetics to dino oils...there is no comparison

?

contradictory statement

synthetics are clearly superior, read the article
My mistake. I meant that synthetics overall are better than conventional oil. But in many tests, conventional oil is not far off or even, in some cases, the same as good synthetics if you go over my link.

A good conventional isn't that bad. For my R6 though, I only put in synthetic I want that extra wear protection when I rev to 16.5k.

I use Castrol Syntec and it doesn't burn a single drop between oil changes.
good it shouldn't burn any. I have seen very few f22c's that burn any oil at all.

what mileage did you switch over to synthetic at?

I changed over to Mobile 1 at 8k miles. I change it at 6k mile intervals. The car is autocrossed 15-20 events per year. I'm at 30k miles and it doesn't burn any oil.

my MY00 has just under 60k miles and I have owned it for a year (12k miles) I have been putting conventional oil in to minimize burning or using engine oil.

will i benefit from synthetic, I will change oil at or around 3k miles regardless.

Been using honda filter and Valvoline 10w30 conventional.

I would keep using conventional oil at this point, how much oil do you use every 3k?

Met a guy last fall who bought his MY00 new and has used dino from new. Daily driver. He reported he has never had a problem with the engine and no discernible oil consumption between changes.

very little oil consumption here too, maybe add .1 or .2 ltr throughout the 3k miles.

I just put in some Valvoline Synpower 10w-30 (got a great deal on it)...after my engine is broken in, I'm going to do a oil "smackdown": Valvoline Synpower vs. Mobil 1 EP vs. Amsoil (5k drain for each)
