I will be changing my front pads soon. Should I stay with the oem pads? I baby my car, never race, never burn out and have never put it the track. Any recomendations? Thanks all.

I have always run the oem's "2 x's". never a problem, and the braking has always been spot on.

If you never do any high speed braking, what makes you think you need new pads? Biggest wear issue is heat which comes from working the brakes.

his car is 04, 3 years sounds pretty reasonable for a set of pad. he might racked up alot of miles even if he(or she) doesn't do crazy stuff to it.

heat is a byproduct of fraction, we can't get one without another. In fact all the braking system do is convert forward motion into heat(which is another form of energy)

while logically what you say is true, in real life, I can burn a set a front pads down to the warning bars in 4 track days (about 600 miles) while on my beater, I have 200K plus, 10years, and have half the pad left on them.

If you ride your brakes you can get high heat, which eats your pads, but normal civilian use contributes little to pad wear.

BTW, Stock pads will do fine for what you use the car for. AP1 pads dust less than AP2's.

What is your beater? If it's an 1800lb CRX, then that's almost believable. However, a 2800lb S2000 is going to require a little more force to stop. Additionally, the performance-oriented S2000 pad is not going to give you nearly the usable life span of the "Lifetime Warranty" Autozone pad because they are different compounds with different purposes. I wouldn't expect much more than 30-40K out of street driven S2000 pads... but I guess it mostly depends on driving style.
