Changing AEM cai v1 filter
Hey guys, i just bought a k&n replacment filter. Iv never changed one before and i was just looking for a little guidance. Id really appreciate it if someone could go over the process of changing the filter. Is it as easy as just pulling out the old one and poping in the new one..? Do i need to remove the splash guard under the front to access the cai filter...? Thxs in advance!!

1. You do need to pull the fender liner down to get to the filter.
2. Take the filter back.
3. Exchange it for a filter recharge kit and a good amount of change.
4. Clean your old filter.

recharge kit = cleaning kit.
You clean the old filter and don't need the new one. I meant you should return the new filter for a refund.

If money is not tight, you may want to keep and install the new filter, and clean the old one, as it takes sometime time to dry before re-oiling. That way you'll have a ready replacement at all times.
I don't access from the fender liner, but rather the splash shield directly underneath the filter. I think there are only 3 fastners along the bottom front edge of the lip that will allow you access to the area.

K&N filters are preoiled from the factory, that is why the element looks red.
Your recharge kit should have 2 bottles, detergent and a can of aerosol oil. When you clean the old filter (follow instruction on recharge kit) the filter element will look white, after it dries, you then oil. The oil is red so you can see coverage better.
