Good to hear it solved the problem; I plan to do the same -- probably with Red Line as suggested.

Can I assume the S2000 tranny has a drain plug?

The reason I ask - I just went to change the fluid on my daughter's '96 Nissan Altima with stick shitft only to learn it does NOT have a plug. Say what!! The local dealer said neither the stick or automatic are designed for that; only for top ups. They said a special pump is need if it's necessary.

Secondly, I see from the Red Line site they have a distributor in Osborne Park.

There is nothing wrong with Honda MTF. There was a real improvement in my shift quality when I changed the factory fill which was in bad shape with new Honda MTF purchased at the dealer.

The S2K does have a drain plug.

I just bought some Redline MTL (70w80 GL4). I'll give it a try.

I'm going to have to change my tranny oil. How many miles did you have on the car before you changed it???

Maybe I can get Prolene to help me do it since I know he has such a nice garage.

Right, I agree there's nothing wrong with the Honda MTF, it's just that the synthetic stuff (at least the one I tried) is better.

My car has 6000km (<4000 miles) on the odometer. At 5000km the transmission fluid was changed by Honda. This made a small but noticeable improvement to the shift quality.

I just drained this 1000km (600 mile) old fluid and replaced it with new synthetic, and the difference is HUGE. It is still by no means perfect, but for me it's the difference between enjoying driving the car unconditionally and being annoyed by the shift every time I get in it.

Maybe some people have been blessed with smoother shifts than mine, or maybe I'm just fussier. I don't know, but for me this has been the easiest and best mod I could have made.

Also, if you had had synthetic in there from the beginning, maybe it would not have been in bad shape when you changed it. One of the known features of synthetics is their greater resistance to deterioration with age.
