Change oil before winter or after? Plus general oil question
Should I change my gearbox oil before I put my S2000 into winter sleep or after the winter sleep ?
I would have done it after the winter during the first warm days ?
Also: I want to switch from Honda MTF4 to Amsoil MTF since the Honda MTF4 isn't really helping me with my 2nd gear grinding.
This should be the right Amsoil MTF ? http://www.performanceoilsltd.co.uk/...nsmission.html
Since it is SAE 5w-30, this means it would also be more "liquid" when cold ?
Thanks

If your fluids are overdue or almost due and you don't plan on driving it, I would just wait til spring. If you've got a little extra money to spend, swap some honda fluid into it as fresh fluid before you put her to bed, and then swap the new fluid you plan to use when you thaw her out in spring. If you're going to drive it here and there during the winter on nicer days, I would swap fluids now and call it a day.
Personally I don't like letting fluid sit in the car dirty for extended periods, but obviously some think its wasteful to use fluids just for the car to sit...
I would say dry it all out and let it sit empty for the winter, but I don't believe that's good for the metal bits inside. (Rust, no protection at all, metal-metal binding)

Its always better to over-winter with fresh fluids. Especially engine oil since it picks up so much corrosive contaiminents from fuel combustion. Gear box and diff aren't as critical, but if it so near due that you would be doing it in Spring anyway, why wouldn't you do it prior to storage?

Don't forget to put something like Sta-Bil or Sea Foam in the gas tank. One more thing, be sure to run the car long enough so the gas treatment gets to all the parts in the fuel system(I have a buddy that just put it in the gas tank and didn't run the engine long enough to get everywhere in the system and when he went to start the car-NO START plugged injectors)
