I don't want to turn your thread into an oil debate, but I am a huge fan of Amsoil and a lot of guys on here run it as well. It's a little more pricey than some of your regular oils you can pick up somewhere like Autozone but you can usually run it a lot longer too. Whatever you go with, get a couple UOAs done if you really want to know how well your oil is holding up.

Sorry if I'm repeating this, but I only had time to skim this thread. I work at Honda, we use Valvoline in most cases, except for 0w-20. It may differ from location to location however.
Also, for the 3000 mile interval. I say why not? It costs about $35 ($40 with OEM filter) to do an oil change, and for me, 3000 miles comes maybe 3 times a year. Thats $90, and a little less than an hour (or a little less than 15 minutes for Fumoto owners) every year dedicated to oil changes. Is that really too much? I use full synthetic, OEM filter, and no more than 3000 mile interval, for every oil change for my S.
