why? Lol
Cali is proposing a law to stop changes at 3000 it's wasteful, has no benefit unless you track the car, an it's just one hell of an ad campaign by oil companies and garages that you need it at 3k
S2k gets it at 5,000
All others 7,500

I change my oil once it starts to visibly look dirty among the several oil level checks.
Usually, this happens around 5k-6k miles.
This time around, I bought some castrol syn blend 10w30 with mobil 1 m1-104. *shrug

You might consider using a conventional oil for your first change since your car is just barely broke in then switch to a full synthetic after the next 5,000 miles.
There are going to be many opinions but this one seems very reasonable to me and is somewhat close to the way I broke my own car in. Idealy, the first change should have been made at 5k. Did you ignore the maintanance minder?

Probably going off the engine oil % light in 06+ S's.
Mobil 1 is known to burn and is supposedly one of the main culprits for the timing chain tensioner issues these cars can get. Honda uses castrol 5w30 bulk more than likely. I use the regular GTX and change at 5k without any issues. Just remember to check your oil every fill up.

I recently switched from Mobil 1 to Castrol EDGE with Titanium (both 10w-30), its basically the exact same price (buy 5 quart jugs from walmart, its pretty cheap there)
I am burning a noticeable amount less now then when I was using Mobil 1.
Also make sure to use the OEM honda PCX filter, its specific to the S2000.
