Default CEL P2185

Ok, so a few weeks ago I got a CEL light on after not driving my car for a few weeks. I pulled the code(s) with my scan tool and came up as a P2185 and also a code for the IAT sensor. So I went online to check what the P2185 was, it came up as "engine coolant temperature high circuit". So I go online find the sensor in question and order one. It took a awhile to get, but finally got it last weekend and installed it. The ECT sensor I installed was the one that Goes on the back of the intake manifold.. and also installed a new IAT sensor. Plugged in the scan tool and cleared the code. The IAT code shut off, but the P2185 still came up. So I checked and made sure the connector was plugged in all the way, it was. So I tried clearing it again, as soon as I clear the codes and hear the ECU reset the light will immediatly turn back on. What am I missing here. Is it a problem with the ECU or could it be the connector itself? I'm loosing patience with this. The only Mods I have are K&N intake and HKS Cat back with Stock header and test pipe. Please help

How's anyone going to help you? You don't even give any other details about your car. Year? Mileage? P2185 may be a Honda code but it's not an early model S2000 code. Is it even a late model S2000 code?

Its a 2006 With 65500 Miles. The code doesnt come up on any lists on this site but it has shown up on accord and TSX sites. Here is how it sits, The car sat in my garage for about a month, When I went to drive it. It started up with out the CEL on but after about 10 minutes of idling the CEL came on. I plugged the scan tool in and it came up with the P2185 code, also a code for the IAT sensor. The P2185 is a code for engine coolant temp sensor high circuit. I changed the IAT sensor first bc my local dealer had one in stock. I swapped it put the scan tool in, cleared the codes, the light came back on but the IAT code was gone. Fast forward to last weekend. Got the ECT sensor in, swapped out the old one, Plugged the scan tool in, cleared the code, it stayed off for a few seconds but then turned back on. I checked the scanner and the same code kept coming up. I kept trying to clear it but with no avail. I tried clearing by pulling the back-up Fuse from the fuse box, that didnt work. I tried pulling the battery for 10 minutes, that didnt work. I'm lost as to what the problem could be. I'm thinking to do a full coolant flush this weekend and see if that will fix it. I am picking up a new fan switch tomorrow and am going to install that. but if that fails I am pretty much at a loss of what the problem is.

2006 was the beginning of OBD II CAN protocol. What kind of scanner are you using? You're about to do a bunch of work on the car when you really don't know for sure if that code is authentic. Like I said before, it's a Honda code but not necessarily for an S2000. An S2000 ECT (high) code is P0118. This doesn't always mean the coolant is over-heating. It just means the sensor is reading high. I suggest you make sure you've actually scanned the proper code first.
What code did you scan for IAT? It should be P0112 or P0113. If it wasn't, then your scanner is not interpolating the reading correctly.

Im using the same scanner they use at autozone. The code for the IAT was PO113. After checking the scanner again it says 2 codes, p2185 and p2185 pending, not sure what the pending means but it came up the same on the autozone scanner. Could it be an ecu issue?

"Pending" basically means that the condition was seen again but went off. If it's consistent, it throws a solid code. Can't say if it's an ECU issue or a scanner issue. Who knows, maybe Autozone wasn't using the proper scanner either. P2185 is not a typical S2000 code.
