Default CEL info for you!

Ive been frequenting the Under The Hood forum a lot lately. Ive been noticing that people have been having some misconceptions about their CEL light comming on or blinking. Well heres some info that I hope helps. Also if there is another write up please let me know and ill take this one down or if someone can add good solid TRUE info please do!!! Hope this helps!!

CEL On - Vehicle ECU (ECM,computer)is experiencing a problem that it is not able to compensate for and the problem needs to be adressed ASAP. Vehicle will NOT pass smog and can cause more damage if not properly tended to.

CEL Blinking - Vehicle is running so bad that it is experiencing catastrophic damage to the catalytic converter and will possiably go into "Limp Home Mode" if vehicle is not turned off. Vehicle will NOT pass smog. It only takes about 30-60 sec to kill the catalytic converter and also destroy your engine!!! In either case a code scanner should be hooked up to retrieve the codes and to properly diagnose and fix the problem.

Blinking CEL is not a bad running engine, it's a misfire.
