CEL help, PO339
I've got a MY04 AP2 S2000. Intermittently it will throw a CEL for PO339 Crank position sensor intermittent fault. This light is always accompanied by either a complete loss of power or violent surging when on throttle for a minute or two. Turning the car off and turning it back on after a minute usually resolves this problem. This symptom seems to usually happen when entering VTEC and not having the engine completely warm.
What I did find so far is that the connector(directly below PCV breather nipple valve cover) for this sensor was covered in oil. I have since cleaned the connector thoroughly, the symptom has occured once since this adjustment. I plan to measure power supply to the sensor and monitor its signal with an osciliscope tomorrow, but I also think it is a possibility the sensor itself has become fouled due to oil contamination.
The reason for my post is to see if any other members have had similar issues or experiences and what their resolutions were. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Julian

I think that is a possibility but there are a couple problems with this theory in my opinion. When this usually happens my oil temp is usually around 50 C and the coolant temp gauge is 1/3 or so up. Also why would it set a code for CKP? Any how, I've not dismissed this as a possibility, just don't think the VTEC fail safe would match the symptoms stated above. Thanks for the advise though.
Today I replaced the CKP sensor and spark plugs(maintenance). I also did a battery reset, I'll keep this post updated with the results.
