Default CEL code P0122, best way to rectify the problem

My car is a 100% stock 2000 Year model S2000. I have owned it for 5 years and had zero problems until this CEL last week.

I am getting a "P0122 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low Input" code and I need to have my vehicle inspected soon. I know I will not pass inspection with a CEL, I am hoping this problem can be fixed with a new TP Sensor on the throttle body. The only way I can get that part from Honda is with the purchase of the entire throttle body for $667.00. This seems a little pricey, since all I probably need is a small sensor.

Any suggestions on repairing this issue cheaper than $667.00? Can I reset my ECU and pass inspection? Do I run any risk of damaging my car if I drive it prior to repairing the P0122 issue?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Try www.hardtopguy.com for a lower price on the OEM part. Or shop for a used one.

I reset my CEL and after 40 miles it hasn't come back on, I am hoping that this CEL was just a fluke and I don't have any need to replace the throttle body.
