it was misfire in 2nd and 4th I think.. I'm glad I put my old spark plugs in my toolbox )
put them back in and cleared all codes. so far (portland -> vancouver) no cel
ngk failed me
once back home want to pick this (hopefully won't need it sooner) http://www.equus.com/Product/Detail/...A-AA8D790E6DA4

so on my way back to SF around 500miles down it came up again (with old densos); I think that's the same code.. ordering reader right now. I think after driving for 17 hours in 4-5 thousand rpms there were few misfires.. though still need to find the root cause
I suspect coils now.. any other ideas?

I can have a tank of fuel last a month, or last 2 days, its the miles driven that makes a difference

bought Equus 3130 - once it's here I would know if this is the same cel or not..
I'm not sure but want to do valve adjustment and see if ignition is okay. What's the service interval for this engine for valve adjustment?

If you're still on the same tank of gas (as when the problem started) it could still be related. In my camaro I developed a really mean misfire during load after I filled up at an older gas station (tesoro gas, not that generic..). Burnt through the tank, new gas, no problems.

anyways - waiting for code scanner. but seems like I would be able to reproduce this (~400 miles drive 4-5k);
just not sure yet where to look at: coils, ignition timing, valves lash adjustment (will do anyway), timing chain tensioning etc

Yeah.. can be.. will go one by one to trace down the cause
its 05 with alalmost 60k.. will do valve adjustment since it needs to be done anyways.. plus inspect retainers since cover is off already

misfire in 2nd and 4th; I swapped coils (2->1 and 4->3); cleaned CEL and drove to fix my windshield crack <3miles;
it came up again. can't be all four coils went bad.
can't be ignition timing causing misfire in only 2/4..
thoughts?
