Default CEL Blinks (Off and On)

I have red and get many different opinions as there are probably many different reasons, so I am looking for mine and your expertise opinion (thanks for the help)

My CEL has been off and on for the past 6 months, each time I take it in its a misfire in cylinder 1, I replaced all the plugs and core cell (think thats right) and it went away (for a while)

I was coming home from work yesterday and while sitting at a light the CEL flashed at low idle.

That worried me, ...... I drove the 4 miles home and it never flashed again....

Any ideas what I may be looking at here?
I hate to just be so complaisant about a CEL

She is our daily driver, it seems to run fine but have not gotten on it

A blinking CEL is bad news and can indicate a catastrophic failure. It sounds like you may have a serious problem with the #1 cylinder. I would have a compression and leak down test performed.

Last time I went to Auto zone it was P1399 code, then I replaced all the plugs

Shall I go to auto zone to see this code?
It only flashed that once at a full stop, its performance has never varied that I have noticed

Suggestions as how to proceed?

THANKS

Does that mean a blinking CEL, or is what I had happen considered BAD (I know it can't be good)

I am just trying how to progress forward from here, I drove home about 4 miles and it never blinked again, but am not in the mood to test it

Should I drive down (about 6 miles) to my AutoZone and get a reading?
or will this just give me the same knowledge of cylinder 1 has an issue?

Thanks much, I am just scared and shaky over this........

So constantly on is OK if you know the history?

Flashing is never good.!?

If I start it up and its NOT flashing (the CEL) would it benefit me to go to AutoZone and get the error codes read?

My other option is just drop it off at the shop

I know no one is going to tell me, Sure go ahead and drive it.... Thats not what I am looking for, I just thought maybe some one here might have more experience with this CEL issue.

thanks again all

You can recover your password, you know.

And it would help if you told us some history of your car... age, mileage, etc.

And if you posted in the proper forum.

P1399 can sometimes be injectors. But I don't know how many miles on your car there are, so I can't say if it's likely.

Oh I am sorry, feel free to move to appropriate area of forum, my bad.

The recovery password was sent to an email that is no longer in use, I tried to restore but was disolved after 30 days of inactivity apparently.

I have 72,500 miles its a 2001 and is our daily driver (10 miles round trip to work)

I thought this was in my profile or "details" under my name, I am sorry..
What else can I help you with so I can help myself ?
Had the P1399 error all the time, replaced the coil, then plugs....... error returns

replaced plugs all the way round....... code ALWAYS RETURNS (CEL) with in a week.

I started it up today and the CEL light does not flash but is still on.

Thanks again and if I missed anything forgive me

Lee
