CEL after valve cover removal

CEL after valve cover removal
First off, the vehicle in question is an MY02. Codes received are P1259 and P1456.
I had recently over-revved the engine like a dumbass, so it prompted me to finally pull the valve cover and check the retainers since I had purchased the vehicle used anyways.
Through the process, to get a bit more play on the coil pack wire harness (not sure exactly what to call it, hopefully that gets the point across) I had removed the two plugs circled in the picture below.
After putting the valve cover back on (no cracked retainers) and getting everything set back in place, I had forgotten about these two plugs I had removed. The CEL came on as soon as I turned the key but it was solid so I fired it up and it seemed to be working fine. I have *not* taken it for a drive yet, I have a 3rd vehicle so the S can play garage queen when necessary. I plugged the wires back in, but the CEL remained.
Rented a scanner from Autozone and pulled the codes listed above. The plugs are already reseated at this point so I cleared the codes using the scanner, turned the vehicle off and fired it up again. The codes did not return, but I still have not taken it for a drive.
My question to the forum, what are these plugs used for? Is it normal to receive those codes having left the plugs unseated?

Plugs are for the vtec solonoid valve, and that's where your P1259 came from.
P1456 is 95% chance a non-sealing gas cap (not related)

Took it for a drive and didn't have any issues with VTEC or otherwise... no return of the P1456 either but I haven't plugged the scanner back in to see if it's a pending code either. I'll check that later but sounds like I should be good to go for now.
