Same thing for the engine side connectors and this will most likely fry your ecu.
yes of course i can see how the o2 sensors can be plugged into each other but who would do such a thing?? it would be quite obvious that that is wrong. Also, i thought we were talking about "reversing" the wires or plugs, as in, using the primary in the secondary location and vice versa, not plugging them into each other. Billman did mention plugging them into each other is possible but that wasn't the main thing we were discussing--it was switching the sensors by accident, which i feel shouldn't be possible.

Yes you would think it should be almost impossible to do that but I've read about it multiple times on this forum so it does happen.

Update: The car is a 00' MY. I replaced the O2 sensor being it was only $30 for a new Denso from work, didn't help the issue (I assumed it wouldn't but oh well). As I was inspecting the O2 sensor I looked at the harness-side connector and realized one of the wires was partially pulled away from the connector itself. I ordered a harness extension and will be splicing on a new connector tonight, the connector tab was broken and I used tape previously to hold it in anyways. I made sure I didn't connect the plugs to themselves (harness > harness) so I doubt the ECU was damaged by this. I will let you guys know if the new connector resolves the issue.

Problem solved.

Cut the body harness connector for the O2 sensor, two of the pins fell right out of the connector. Crimped on some butt's and did the same to the O2 sensor connector I found on Ebay. Needless to say it fixed it, now I have about 6-7 inches of extra wire so I don't have to burn my arm if I ever need to remove the sensor again.

Thanks for the helpful comments, I appreciate it.
