CEL 1456
#11
Here's a link to the TSB, although I think there was another one that superceded this one (and probably added the S2k models: http://www.hondalac.com/service/Bulletins/...in%2004002'
I got a CEL last week, with a P1456 reading, and it took 4 days to go off (I was tightening daily, until I read that reopening the tank restarts the cycle period that you must wait - so I left it alone and the next day it went off). My the service manager at my dealer says he never heard of the problem and when he pulled it up on his computer, he claims there have only been 6 incidents of this problem in the nation and therefore Honda probably wouldn't take care of it under goodwill if the manf warranty is over. I somehow don't believe the "6" part of it.

yeah, i know. as i indicated, i think there's one that supercedes this one and it probably includes the s2k's. i think the dealer can pull it up as mine did - but then again, mine just laughed at me saying there had only been 6 cases nationwide. probably better to arm yourself with knowledge before going in.

[QUOTE]My CEL lit up recently because of a loose gas cap. It didn't go off after tightening the gas cap. My local Honda service manager said it can take several days for the light to go off after lighting for that cause. She was right. It stayed on for at least a day after that but it did go off.
that's what it says in your honda instructions manual!

Bought a new gas cap today for $30. I am going to give it a week. If the light does not go off by then, I will take it to a dealer. They are going to charge $110 to pull the code. Why do I get the feeling they are going to try and charge me $110 and tell me I need a new gas cap?
The TSB is #04-002 and covers all 2002 and some 2003 models. The copy I have states that the S2k is covered. If anyone needs a copy, please PM me.

I have a CEL with P1456 and it only has happened twice, both times when the car has lesss than 1/2 tank of fuel. I reset the code at Schuck's Auto Supply, but I wonder if I need to take it to the Dealer? Sometimes they really need the $$$$ and I don't want ot be suckered into unnecessary repair. Any advice??
