Carbon fiber driveshaft

2 Lbs lighter, and a difference is not noticed? I thought that if you took out 2 lbs of rotating mass out you would increase acceleration/deceleration as there is less mass to spin-up or spin-down? Isn't that part of the argument for lightened fly-wheels, and lighter wheels in general? (All else being equal of course!)

The stock propshaft is very light. I cut one up and the tube was very thin. Most of the weight would be in the CV joints.
The problem with Carbon shafts is they tend to shatter when the break and can do a lot of damage as the ends flail around. A steel one will tend to wind up like a noodle on launch and hopefully not break through.
The other mode of failure is loss of a joint on either end. In this case you need a tailshaft strap to stop it going crazy or dropping down and hitting the road.
I would stick with the stock shaft and spend the money elsewhere.
Chris.

my driveshaft broke on me last year and i had to get it replaced...
i have a feeling this one is also going bad...
at the beginning of 1st and 2nd gear i would hear 3 or 4 clicks coming from the rear of the car... once the car is moving the car is okay...
what do you think?
