Default Carbon deposit on the exhaust tip

i just noticed that there is quite a bit of carbon deposit on my exhaust tips just 2 weeks after being cleaned. Looks like the car is running a bit rich. My car is 100% stock. Does anyone noticed this problem on their car?

it's fairly normal. our cars run richer above 6000rpm, which is not a bad thing. if your car is running fine, and you have no CEL, then dont worry about it. no point in becoming an automotive hypochondriac.

All cars leave soot inside the exhasut system and on the tips. If the tips are clean, someone recently cleaned them.

I use a dedicated piece of car-washing sponge and plain water. For some stubborn soot on the tip, I use Turtle Wax "Bug and Tar Remover". Works like a charm and doesn't scratch the polished tip.

I use Simple Green degreaser, or the old car wash soap after I've washed the car. The best way to clean would be a good question for the Wash and Wax forum, they really get into cleaning things.

No way, that will scratch the hell out of the stainless steel. Use a soft cotton cloth with whatever cleaning product of your choice. Simple WD-40 would work well too.
