I think type b codes are "pending" meaning if problems continue it will throw a check engine light.
Scanners can run as cheap as 20$. Mine was 40$ from advance auto and I've been using it to read and clear codes for 4 years.
I would be careful on trying to drive or run it too much until you get those codes read.

you may have some charging system issue that is making it crank more slowly, but i doubt that the stalling out of the motor has anything to do with your alternator and definitely not your starter.
have you looked around the motor to make sure everything is buttoned up: air box on tight, coil packs seated properly, no major vac leaks, map, cam and other various sensors connected properly, etc?? those are just some of the items i would check.
it's easy enough to pull the plugs and check them out too.
is your car smoking a lot? if so, what color?
when you turn your key to the on position do all the lights on the dash come on including cel? that'll help you rule out a blown bulb behind the dash.
but as suggested, get your hands on, or simply buy a scanner and see if there's anything stored.

I take it you checked all the grounds? what kind of temperatures do you see in your neck of the woods? sounds a lot like a voltage issue to be honest, but if you could pull some codes, that would really help
