Default Car Sputtering

Hey everyone,
In the past week my car has been acting up quite a bit. It feels as if its sputtering and not getting enough fuel or something. The car backfires quite a bit when you are on the throttle as well. I added fuel injector cleaner and I'm going to pull the spark plugs in a little bit to check those. Does anyone else have any ideas on what may be wrong?
Thanks for the help
-Adam

P.S. Also the CEL is on but i have no way of pulling up the code myself without paying a mechanic some outrageous amount of money.

go to any auto zone or advance auto parts. they will pull the code for free. i'd advise AGAINST driving the car like this without finding out immediately what the code is.

You can jump terminals 4 and 9 of the OBDII plug and get blink codes, but they are limited in what they can tell.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for all of the help... On fri I had a few minutes to kill while at work and pulled the plugs on the car.... The car had Bosch Platinum 4's... and the number 3 cylinder's plug was missing all the electrodes on the end... I went to autozone got new plugs and everything is running great with not CEL... So thanks again for all the help and such a quick response

That can't be good...did it break off, or does it look like it melted off?
