Car poped out of gear today
I had an problem this morning that I have a sneaking suspicion may be related to the 2nd gear synchro issue. I had just started the car, it probably idled for about a minute while I searched for an appropriate cd to listen to, but it han't been idling excessively long, nor was the car 'completely' cold. I pulled out of the driveway babying the car as I normally do in the morning....very slow aacceleration. At about 3k rpm I pushed in the clutch and went to 2nd. While the clutch is still fully depressed I let my hand move off the shift lever, and I literally saw it pop back into neutral. This isn't the first time I've seen it do this, but usually I've been lifting up on the clutch so I thought it might be related to the engine engagement. Not so it would appear. It only seems to do then when it has been sitting for 3+ hours, and even then it isn't something I can replicate consistently. Thoughts?
CLIFF NOTES:
Car popped out of 2nd into neutral. Clutch pedal was still fully depressed.

This may not be related.
I had the 2nd gear issue on my '04. My experience, and what's documented in the TSB is the car popping out of gear when decelerating (on the downshift). It didn't exhibit any particular temperature dependence, though it seemed more likely to happen at high revs.
The scenario would be gettting ready to turn, downshift (shift felt normal), clutch out, *DUNK* back in neutral.
I've experienced what you're talking about since the repair was performed. Periodically when the transmission is cold, I'll upshift into 2nd and it will slip back to neutral on the first contact of the clutch. I shrug it off as not being fully engaged and the transmission being cold.
Changing the fluid didn't seem to do much - I just make sure that I either double-clutch, row couple times or hold it a little harder into 2nd when I shift cold. Also, I don't really get on it until the temp comes up to 4-5 bars (AP2). Haven't had a problem since.
Good luck...
