If it dropped anywhere below 10-11V then that would indicate a problem. Are you getting spark?

Have you checked for spark? Also is the car not cranking or cranking slowly. There seems to be a lot of discussion about the battery, but if it cranks fine you need to look elsewhere. It takes fuel, spark and compression in the right amount and order to start. You must be missing one.

If it's doing it slowly...then try getting someone to jump you... if it starts, then you know it is your battery.

I believe there are spark testers you can purchase.
This is most definitely not the correct or smartest way to do this, but I was able to check spark quickly by disconnecting my coilpacks and trying to start the car while someone is watching the coils if they spark or not.
I didn't do it to check my spark, I forgot to unplug them while I was trying to remove the water flood from my combustion chamber.

ok i tried with a different battery and it cranked much more quickly but no combustion so i guess that rules out the battery or the starter. the plugs smell like fuel so the injectors are pulsing and i tried new plugs with the same results. i'm not seeing any blown fuses so i guess my coilpacks may have gone bad somehow although that makes no sense. when i pull the coilpacks out to check spark, i need to ground the plugs on something right?

Are you positive about the camshafts, because like mentioned, if they are off even one tooth, the car will not start/run.
