Default Car is idling very high upon start up...normal?

I have a 2006 with approximately 2300 miles on it. I've recently noticed that upon start up, the car is idling at 2k rpm. Is this normal? The idle is not rough or anything like that but it will stay at a constant 2k rpm for several minutes. Once I begin driving it returns to a normal idle at aroud 1k rpm. Any ideas?

My 06 always starts at 2k when cold. It seems odd that with DBW and all the associated electronics that the idle speed is this high. I suppose it has to do with getting the cat to light off quickly.

Remember that the S has only one cat way back under the car. Most other cars have two cats, one small one with low thermal inertia near the exhaust header for light off and one further aft for more general duties.
