Sounds like a bad clutch. I had an AP2 come in for a clutch change that exhibited the same problem but even worse. If you're lucky it could just be pedal free play needing adjustment but more likely than not it's the clutch itself.

I'm not Billman but I've dealt with this enough times. The pressure plate itself is rock solid so long as you don't drop it. It will happily go half a million miles at stock power levels. The disk and the bearings are the clutch wear items.
The rubber boot that goes over the fork is more important than people realize for clutch longevity.
I would also look at replacing the release bearing guide. A new clutch fork(they're not expensive) and the cage/hanger for it.
One less thing that rattles is always good.

Can't stress the need for Honda UREA grease enough! Use it. It's proper
