Try this. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=256141 It's the K&N install, 5th picture down, you can see the part you have in your hand. Near the bottom of the pic.

DO NOT GO BASED ON THE PIC YOU PROVIDED. There is a place on the stock airbox for this to be screwed to like everyone else has stated or, if you have an aftermarket intake most have a spot for it as well, but if you have an afteramarket intake without a spot for it you need to ziptie it out of the way so that the engine pulleys do no chew it up with the belt. I suspect this has already happend though and the sensor is grounding out causing you some problems. Trace the wires on the sensor harness to see if there is any exposed wiring, if so take care of that first and reconnect the sensor out of the way of the pulleys and belt. Hope this helps.

Got this from my FSM, it tells you what it is (Air Control Valve Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve) and where it goes. Like others have said it does attach to the stock airbox.

its a vacuum solenoid. it controls the amount of vac that gets stored in that little black box i believe.
looks like you have the connecter in your hand - plug it back in. it mounts up to the stock intake i believe on the bottom or the side - sorry its been a while!
trace the vacuum lines up to the hardlines positioned around the fuel rail. they run through to the back of the motor. make sure there is still a white one way check valve in place. see the diagram above for everythings position.

I've been driving without that thing forever now. Whatever's wrong with the car, it's not that for sure!
Read OP's first 3 sentences, ppl! Please. This thing opens one hose to be able to pass air (vapors) to another hose, where it's either purged or sucked to be burned by the engine. so no, that's not the cause, forget it.
Tell us what the CEL is, it'll help. Don't have a scanner? Do this:
On your OBDII connector, jump pins 4 and 9 with a paperclip. Then turn ignition on. The CEL will blink out a 2-digit code. the longer flashes are the first digit. the shorter ones are the 2nd. LIke, 4 longer flashes in a row, then 5 faster ones are 45. Search or post the code here.
That's a first step in a right direction.

I FIXED MY CAR!!!!! Besides that valve not being connected, after I reconnected I stil had the CEL. After some research on s2ki, I realized I might have blown the ACG fuse and I did! Went to walmart, got a new fuse. Replaced old fuse, cleared the codes. Turned on the car and let it run for 20 minutes to be safe. AND NO CEL!!!! WOOHOOO... Thanks everyone who helped
