I've dropped the clutch ONCE to satisfy my curiousity. My tires were cold and with 37 psi. I reved to 6k and dropped it. Normal peel out, then the tires caught pavement.
I'll never do that again untill I've got the rear diff reinforced.

Look just call a dealer (service dept) and explain what is going on and ask what the problem might be. You don't have to give them your name and it dosen't have to be the dealer you will take it to. This aproach has worked for me a few times and has failed a few it just all depends who you speak to on the phone. Some of the service guys are cool and some will give you a load of crap about needing to bring your car in.

Why does everyone think you cannot drag the S2000, was it designed for it NO, but if you want to make some power upgrade your diff and clutch then why cant you call it a DRAGSTER, I hate it when you say this wasnt made to be a dragster (which no car is BTW), we have the only rear wheel drive Honda, which makes the most power out of the box and we cant take it to the strip WHY I ASK, I have personally launched my car many times (10-15) and have never had a problem peeling out or doing pretty well at the drag. Just my .02 , BTW sorry to jack the thread, I think you are either not dumping the clutch right or your clutch is slipping

Any car with HP should be able to peel out....Actually how else would you launch the S2000 off the line? If the car hooked up at 5 or 6K you would take off...otherwise your gonna get smoked by any car.

Hey Swift I get the same problem... not the bang bang, but I can't peel out. When I try to launch I usually get a quiet high pitched noise followed by a smooth roll out. I also can't catch rubber into 2nd gear like everyone else can do.
NOTE: I do not recommend doing this, but it did solve my whole launching problem, and now I'm pretty good at it.
The lauch from the start I found to be my technique. You don't just rev and hold 6k. rev your engine a few times and on the time when you're ready to launch, rev with the gas down hard. When the RPM's hit where you want to launch from, then drop the clutch and be sure the have the gas fully to the floor when the clutch catches.
Now if I can only figure out how to catch rubber into 2nd gear....
