Default canT get the cover off of headlights

i got the car up, fender liner pulled back, but i cant for the life of me get the metal cover off. i understand it says open/close on it but WTF?? am i doing something wrong besides twisting?????
also, it may sound dumb, but is it REALLY worth disconnecting the battery??? what are the chances i will get shocked?

My car is sitting apart right now because I got a bad ballast.

Once you get the cover off you twist of the igniter (silver block on the back of the bulb) and then undo the spring clips then reverse to reinstall... I did not disconnect the battery when I did it but I did pull the fuse and relay out for the headlight I am working on to be safe and did not have any issues....

^That. and never slap that torx bit back on. Its a tight enough seal with just the plastic, dont need that little screw.

^yep. To get to the headlights I now pull off the bumper, remove the headlights, then work on it.

it's def a pain in the ass, but...you pull the bumper off? that seems like an awful lot more trouble unless it's held on with zip ties

You shouldn't need to pull the battery. Just make sure no one flips the switch. Without flipping the switch, the relay will never let power through to the headlights.

I just pulled the liner completely out, 10 or 12 extra clips and took the rim off, it made for loads more room to get in there to get the bulb in and out. Ended up needing to pull the ballast anyways Grrrr.....
