Default Can't find my reverse gear. Little help here...

Was washing my car today since it was sunny and wanted to take my car out for a spin but I was trying to back it out of my garage and I can't find the reverse gear. The shifter will not even push down.

I am guessing the spring is broken or time for a lube on the assembly, I hope nothing major is wrong.

I plan to take the shifter leveler apart tomorrow and see what's going on inside there but I'd like to see if anybody here has any tips for me on what to look for...

I read the service bulletin 02-046 and it says something about 5th gear and reverse gear is difficult to find. But I can't even find my reserve gear. All 6 forward gears work fine. A little help here? Thanks guys/gals.

hehe i shouldn't laugh, but i'm imagining my frustration if the same thing happened to me. personally, i'd just go flintstone and get the job done with my own legs.

shift into 1st gear with the clutch engaged then shift into reverse. btw, the tsb only works during the factory warranty (within 30,000 miles).

Okay guys, I tried playing with the shifter and now I can find reverse and everything seems to work fine. But, the shifter does not pop back up once I pushed it down to find reverse gear... Now, I have to manually push down and pull up the shifter....everything works but manually push down and pull up kinda sucks. Maybe the spring inside is bad??

look at part 10, i believe this is th part you need. Not sure why it would fail unless the spring broke. Hope this helps
