Default cant feel vtec shift.

hi i have just bought my first honda s2000 after owning two civic type r's. when i first drove it it wasnt pulling that hard so i checked the oil. it was low by 2 litres. its all topped up now. i can hear the change in sound when it hits 6000 rpm. feels quicker but not loads. dont get no sudden jolt that i got from my 2005 or 2002 civic. any idears on how to resolve this. i read somewhere the map sensor might be faulty.

Do a compression test, and go from there, or find a local s2k owner and test run with him/her

It's probably normal. You don't want a "jolt" when driving. Nitrous or turbo if you want that "kick." MAP would give stumbling and hesitation.

Or you damaged something by running that low on oil....

i know i have never had a car that low on oil. he must have never checked it. the honda dealer says it should need topping up every 600 miles or so. i dont get any hesatation or anything. car runs sweet. especially now there is the right amount of oil. i should of checked that before i bought it. didnt cross my mind, as i thought any one with half a brain checks the engine oil once in a while. would low compression give bad running? been watching vids on youtube to see how quickly it should gain revs. it looks like mine. maybe its me just being paraniod. i know ,y civic only jolted every now and then. i thought thats what it was supposed to do when it came on vtec.?. you can here the revs build up quicker and the engine note changes as well.

sounds like your ok just maybe your vtec solenoid began hesitating due to the lack of oil. n yes because think of your pistons inside the chamber. they are like giant air pumps. they pull in air then compress it. if ur compression is loweron one cylinder lets say then that cylinder is producing less power because there is less pressure when it combusts. when u shoot a nerf gun the more u pump the further it goes right? thats cause there is more pressure. hope this helps.

Afaik VTEC operates solely on oil pressure and the ECU deciding its needed for power. If you have enough oil maybe you just need the ECU to relearn, if it was seeing low oil before.

he said he hears the change in sound at 6000rpm, so that means his VTEC is working. He just thinks there should be a massive "vtec kick". I don't think there's a problem.
