I'm not a brake expert, but seeing how the Spec C and PF 97 rears wear faster than the full race fronts on the track, it seems that the OEM rears would be gone in no time, and maybe fade?, making the fronts work even harder. Rears are pretty easy to change also if you use a flat file to turn the pistons, so no real need to compromise.

Okay, okay ... I'll get off my lazy a$$ and change both the front and rears.

So Cobalt Spec-VR front and Cobalt Spec-C in the rear.

Yep, that's the right combination for track use. Change them before taking the car to the track and you'll be fine. I drive those to the track since I don't tralier the car and sometimes put my stockers back one, sometimes not, but my car isn't a daily driver.

I thought the same, but my OEM pads hardly showed any signs of wear after a full day of lapping, where the Spec Cs were noticeably farther down. Hawk Blues don't seem to wear too much in the rear though.

No, Hawk Blues just wear rotors while staying remarkably intact themselves

RACER, did you change your brake fluid when you changed to the project Mu pads? If so, that might be why you experienced little fade.
Yes, I flushed the entire system with the Ate fluid.

The Spec C's left some NASTY grooves in my rotors, and the Hawks haven't removed them yet... I don't think they are bad on rotors at ALL unless you aren't getting them hot enough.

(btw, I was one of the ones that helped you clear out the last of the rear blues from your inventory so don't get too down on me! )

Kit, yep I know and thanks I was just pointing out one of the err advantages of the Blues

My Spec Cs do that to my rotors too but it doesn't bother me nor does it prevent the car from stopping.

Any theories as to why one pad would wear grooves and another won't?

Yes, I have a prestine set of Hawk Blues ... one event though and the rotors were shot!

Someone want to buy the Hawk Blues from me?
