Default Can you reprogram a used key transponder?

If I bought another transponder, can I erase the code it has and reprogram it to my car?

Also, anyone know anyother place I could buy a factory replacement car other than going to a dealer.. Im not worried about the programming of the key right now..

The only place that can program a used key is a dealer.

If your used remote is compatible (i.e. same FCC ID) you can program the car to recognize it. The car can recognize up to 3 remotes. I used the procedure that was written here - search for "remote programming" or something to that effect. You need all your remotes with you when you do this.

Yes, you can reprogram a used remote for your car...get into your car and close the door(door has to be closed)have the key remote in one hand and your car key in the other, put key into the ignition turn to full on and push any key on the remote, turn ignition off...do this 4 times in less than 10 seconds and you should hear your locks click after the fourth time.

take out the key and test your remote, if nothing repeat process until you get it right.
