Default Can You Help Diagnose My Pulsing Brakes?

Car is an 00 with 62k on it. I bought it used.
When I step on the brakes they kind of pulse. Sometimes when I stop at low speed the car pulls to the right. The pads seem to have plenty of meat. Any information would be apreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like a warped disc. You need to have it looked at by someone knowledgable.

I have had the same problem after track days. Have the rotors checked and turned if they are still within service limits and get new brake pads. The rotors are suprisingly inexpensive if the old ones are not servicable. Good luck.

You can also get warped rotors from not having your lug nuts all tightened to the same foot lbs.

Chances are that your rotors are not warped. You might have brake material unevenly deposited on the surface, causing them to pulsate and "grab". It can be caused by not breaking in the pads properly, or stopping hard and holding the break pedal down hard while the car is stopped and the rotors are real hot.

You might want to check out this website:

http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/...otors_myth.htm

To get rid of the problem, you will have to get the rotors turned.

You may also want to take a look at your calipers as well. Chances are that if your car is pulling to one side when braking, one caliper may be sticking and not working properly. If this is the case, it may overheat that side and warp the rotor.

One very important thing to check is the sliders (the pin-like bolt with the rubber boot that sits in the caliper bracket). They need to move freely back and forth.
