Default Can you change where you clutch disengages?

So can ya? Mine disengages literally once the peddle is pushed 1-2 inches in and I am almost worried about it possibly being too close to when the peddle is all the way out.

ummm you can rebleed it and see if that helps..basicly you can get all the air out of the system and that might change it.. maybe your pressure plate is worn

Assuming there isn't a PROBLEM with your clutch system (friction disc, pressure plate, slave cylinder, master cylinder) you CAN in fact adjust the point at which your clutch engages. If you refer to the manual, there are directions for doing so. It involves getting under the dash and loosening a bolt or two, making adjustments and retightening the bolts.

Perhaps someone can link a DIY or Helm excerpt.

This might be a lil off topic but I slightly recall billman or somebody saying that our clutch pedal should have zero freeplay. Can anyone confirm this?

What do you mean by "free play" though? The pedal typically has a LITTLE bit (1/2"?) of do-nothing, but it's not zero-resistance.

Its not zero resistance, just about half an inch of travel before you actually feel the clutch I guess is the best way to describe it. Thought it was normal but I remember seeing billman saying there should be no free play. Isnt free play what im describing?

Sure. I've always had the same. And I've also got a brand new clutch system (Master/Slave, PP, friction disc, flywheel, throwout bearing, etc.) and had it adjusted professionally by an experienced mechanic.

If I'm not mistaken there's nothing wrong with that. Anything MORE than that could be a problem. For all intents, it's basically zero free play and seems like normal for the non-NASA specs of the mechanics of the pedal.

my brand new 2008 cr also engages/disengages very high, and altho several people on this board have said this is bad, several others have said this is fine.
