Ok, so can you guys educate me a little? Difference between the long and short block. What's in the car originally? Why would you order something different?
How about the used Japanese engine thing? Does that apply to our motors?

In your car, there is a complete motor. There is a block, head and all of the external accessories.
A short block, is the block of the motor already built with pistons, crankshaft bearings, ect..
A long block is a short block with a built head already installed. No accessories.
The JDM Motors you see for sale are normally complete motors pulled from a working car.
From Honda you can buy every part of build a complete motor, but they will not sell you a complete motor. Only the parts to build one. They will sell a few different assemblies. A short block as a single part number. A complete head as a single part number too, but this is in parts and not already assembled.

AP2 F22C 10002-PZX-A03

Geez...and all these years I'm thinking that short and long blocks means its an entirely different block itself....
So, if I scored my piston walls with that little piece of ceramic and broke off my spark plug, I'd replace with a short block, correct?
And, does anybody get the used JDM F20/22 engines for our cars like I used to for my GS-R?

I picked up the AP1, didn't want to have to deal with retuning and whatnot. I'm not looking for power, I'm looking for factory reliability.
I got a call yesterday from the dealer saying they've received the block, I'll be picking it up tomorrow!
