I agree, you could probably buy a 'complete' J's/spoon engine for cheaper than sourcing all the necessary parts from Honda.. however, it would be beneficial to only buy the parts you need, or buy a 2nd hand engine.

OK, for a complete motor. You need to order three parts from Honda.
10003-PCX-A02 GENERAL ASSY., CYLINDER HEAD $3,260.54
10002-PCX-315 ENGINE ASSY., BLOCK $2,795.08
06110-PCX-010 GASKET KIT, CYLINDER HEAD $216.90
These will build a long block. The Cylinder Head contains all of the parts and requires that you put it together. This is due to the fact that you can not install the head on the block if the head is together.
This totals to 6272.52 (List pricing)
The rest of the parts bolted on the outside of the motor would be swapped. It is cheaper to buy a complete motor from a salvage yard, but them you never know what you are getting.
The Spoon and J's will be more then the OEM Honda Parts. Also there will be a long wait for them to get into the US.

Bumping this REALLY old shiz back from the dead... This is the the only thread that I can find containing info on the OEM AP1 part number (10002-PCX-315)
I'm just curious as to why it seems everyone would rather pay $3,000 for a used longblock when they score a cylinder or damage a piston instead of picking up a brand new factory-assembled shortblock for $2,750 directly from Honda?
