Default Can a valve cover gasket leak cause a hesitation?

I was driving home tonight with low RPMs no vtec or anything and while accelerating I got a sudden shock when the "S" stalled on me for a very brief moment, about as long as it would take you to say STALL (complete loss of power). It happened on two different occasions on the way. I changed the plugs about two weeks ago (OEM plugs )and saw a little oil residue on cylinder #4 plug. I also looked tonight and noticed the front passenger side bolt that holds the valve cover on has been seeping oil down the side of the cover as well. Could enough oil be getting inbetween the coil and plug to cause this hesitation? Vtec is strong and have no other problems. Im sorry if this has already been answered but I couldn't find any particulars to this sort of problem.

No.

Sounds more like a brief "miss". Check the tightness of your MAP sensor harness. Consider getting the new securing system Honda came up with for this.

Did you confirm that the gaps were correct. And no, just because they come "pre-gapped" doesn't mean that they are correct.

saw a little oil residue on cylinder #4 plug.
This is not unusual. Did you use the newer revised torque of 18 lb/ft when you installed the plugs? Did you use anti-seize on the plug threads?

Check all the valve cover bolts and make sure they are all at 8.7 lb/ft, beginning with the middle one and working your way out. If loose, they need to be tighten in stages of increasing torque.

Is there any liquid oil on the coil pack inside the plug tube?

yes there was a little brown oil ring burnt around each plug. So I ordered a valve cover gasket and the spark plug ring gaskets. I also replaced the plugs again too. Hopefully no more problems!

That's not oil on the plug, but some combustion gases leaking past the porcelain. It's normal and nothing to worry about
