Default Can overfilling damage your tranny and diff

I have gone through a couple of threads and it seems that the best and most common options for tranny and diff fluid are LE607 for the diff (1 qt)
GM(or ACDelco) Synchromesh friction modified for the tranny (2 qts).

My last fluid change I used Torco and I waited until the oil would come out of the filling hole. Is that too much fluid in the tranny and diff? So far the car has ran fine but can cause any complications?

Thats how you are supposed to fill it, why would that cause damage?

I recall using 2 3/4 quarts tranny fluid and almost 2 quarts for the diff. Which is a lot more than what was recommend by other members?

How much did you spill or leave in the bottle and/or pump? Pretty hard to overfill unless the car is tilted.

I've never heard of any issues but that does sound like more than norm. Did you have it jacked up evenly?

You'll never get that much (2.75 qts & 2) in those cases unless you made a BIG mess on the ground. You are wasting one bottle each on those.

I follow some trusted DIYs here and they say overfilling the tranny (1.9 qts) and diff (.9 qt) is just fine.

Your fluid choices are subjective, but fall within the carieties roecommended here on the site.

it's really almost impossible to overfill unless the car was tilted at a 45 degree angle. the amount of fluid you stated you used seems unlikely.
