Default Can i use this oil

Hi

Yes i have trawled the forums but i get spun from pillar to post.

I have a easy question

I just bought a 2002 S2000 85000 on the clock.

I recently sold a clk 230 komp now the S2000 is due a oil change and in my garage i have a brand new container 5L of Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil SHE-514.

I live in the UK i get the revs up sometimes, i just need to know can i put this oil in the S with no problems, it says its recommended by Ferrari and was recommended for my Merc CLK Kompressor.

Also this oil is on offer in the UK for £28.00 for 5 litres !!

Thanks in anticipation to all the answers, well one answer on topic would be fab

Cheers Mark

It is not the ideal oil to use, but it is within OEM spec. 10W30 or 5W30 is generally recommended for most cars.

It's a good quality oil as you likely know, and it meets the more stringent European standards that you guys use across the pond. I would use it. Some of the warmer European countries recommend 5w40 oil as the primary choice, it is an optional viscosity over here. Run it and see how you like it.

I've run 5w-40 full synthetic on all my cars including the S2000 without a single issue.

I'm running Amsoil 5w40 right now and for the upcoming driving season, I'll have it analyzed and see how it compares to last year's run of Castrol Edge 10w30.

That's 15 whp right there.

Read the owners manual 5W-40 "recommendation" and also read between the lines and think again.

It will work.
It will also take some extra hp to pump around (*) but we have enough.....
(*) compared to a xxW-30.

All of my 5 cars listed below have used Amsoil since 1st Oil Change....a combined total of 457k miles AND 50 years of combined service.

03S2k,02Z06 & 96GST use 0w30 while the 02CRV and 13EXV use 0w20.
