S2kpuddydad has a great reputation on here. Along with Xviper, Billman and, may he rest in peace, Red Mx5. Can't really go wrong with either when it comes to honest answers and help regarding anything S2000 related.

Wow, putting me up there with those legends....I'm truly honored
As for the 93-95 FD RX7....Sorry, no fit our car these gears use a 7.5" ring gear but, still use the same size pinion we do The gear set is not any stronger than the 7" not sure why Mazda used it.
Believe me, if I could sores the gears from RX8 we would all have it made because, they are easy to get and very reasonable on the used market.
The new RX8 runs the 4.77 now I have not had my hands in one yet, but, I’m sure I will soon; )
A few of these performance Magazines give differential “how to” and “where to” install and source final drive gears. Some of these how to articles will get you into trouble and coast you wasted money. They fail to give all the proper information on the insulation procedures and give sketchy information on what fits.
Truth be told, I can make it fit….Check out this link to a Nissan 350Z build I did for Adam at Z1 Performance in NY. We installed a gear set from a 180/200 SX into the 350s R200 third member.
It took us about 5/6 months to do but , we made it fit and run
That is Robbie in the pics, not me I am taking the pics. He is demonstrating a fixture we built to bench work the R200 and Ford 8.8 third member. We build these rears to hold big power as well.

We had to make the input flange for this build and recondition/Tweek the Quaife LSD
The input flange we made on left and the factory on right

If the FD ring and pinion doesn't fit then the 79-85 4.44 from Racing Beat should, right? I just thought for whatever reason the FD would be a better choice because they were newer. However, Racingbeat.com has he 4.44's for $475 I think. I know there are better deals on the KIA gears but I use my car mostly as a DD. I just don't know if I could handle driving around at at RPM all the time with my Megan Drift Spec wailing.

You do not get that price without the VIN.

I didn't know that. I will wait until Monday to call Mazda and see if I can use my dealer discount. I might just end up going with the 4.77's though. I am still really undecided.
I also found this site for the Kia gears.

Were there a difference in the gear ratios for the SOHC and DOHC?
