Default Cams and Rocker arms chewed up? How

so just got back from Ballad Sports.... the car had a ticking sound so i was having them do a valve and compression test for me. Compression test was 225 225 230 230 but 2 of the 4 rocker arms( I believe they are called) have burnt oil on them and when we take the tops off, as if to remove the cams, the cams are all chewed up and will definitely need to be replaced.

So now im leaving the car till Monday to have the following installed and waiting on valve springs and retainers...

-oem Cam(s) ..used
-rocker arms, part that holds cams (2 out of the 4) ..used
-valve springs and retainers (recommended but not needed)
-new oil and clean oil pan and vtec silenoid

-and labor

$1150

Any idea why there would be burnt oil on the 2 rocker arms??? If your looking into the engine bay it would be the left cam-shaft rocker arms... the 2 closest to the firewall. ...hope that makes since

The oil level was good and the rest of the parts look nice and new... only those to arms have oil burns and the cams are verrry warn down, not the lobes though those were fine. The car ran fine.. im glad i caught this when i did... I dont want this to happen again!!!!!

low oil pressure can cause this
burn oil stain cause the part overheated

If you need to change cam cap you need to change all cap top and bottom piece
The are machined as 1 piece you cannot mismatch these part

^^ What he said... They can't be mismatched. The upper and lower cam holders have to be replaced as a set.

Your oil pump could be failing which couldn't keep up with pressure demands. Another thing, depending on the milage of your motor, the main and/or rod bearings could be worn to the point of having excess oil clearance, which in turn will clearly lower your overall oil pressure. I'd definitely throw a gauge on there once you get the new cams and holders installed and monitor OP at various RPM's. I don't remember what specs it's supposed to be at off hand but I could dig them up.

cam wheel bolt 99%, It can also do damage to the bottom end. I would double check the bearings.

I just bought the car about 2 weeks ago... its a 07 with a ctsc at 6psi with aftercooler. I checked the oil before purchasing and it looked new and was at the right level and i checked it about a week ago and it looked good. The owner of Ballade said it looked like someone might have removed some of the screws on the cam cap.... Maybe they didnt replace the bottom and tops at the same time like mentioned above.

I guess at this point i can only hope thats what they did. Does $400 for dual valve springs and retainers and $350 to have them put in sound about right.... already half way there might as well throw them in.
