cam tensioner? or auto chain tensioner?
I am experiencing the light fluttering noise around 3-4G RPM, I have done a bit of research on here and I think it has something to do with the auto chain tensioner or cam tensioner lik ein this thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=346579 ? I called Honda today in Victoria, and they said the auto chain tensioner part cost is 208$ CAN and labour is 580$CAN. At this price I am unable to get this part changed until the summer due to school and lack of funds, therefore my other question is, will it hurt my car to be driving it daily, some highway and alot of in city driving until then?
thanks

It's just a slight error in terminology. There is no "cam tensioner". It's a "cam chain tensioner" and in our case, it's "auto".
The price you were quoted is not too out of line considering that Honda Canada Parts generally reem us a big one every time. You can get in online from the US here for $118.00 US, but by the time you get it to your door, you will only save maybe 40 bucks or so.

As for the labour, $580.00 is absolute crock and a scam! Don't you still have warranty? An '03 car should still have a bit left unless you have too many KMs.
I've seen threads on here telling you how to do this. It shouldn't take more than an hour or so to do. A Helm manual will also give you the precise procedure.

ps. Can you be sure it's the auto-tensioner? It would be a shame if you bought one, put it in and found out the noise is still there.
