Default Cam placement

Doing the retainer upgrade and would like a second opinion about the cam alignment. Also when installing the cam holders one of the bolts did not want to start and there was something partially blocking the hole so I inserted a screwdriver and pushed it back. Is this normal or what was it? Thanks

You have to use a punch or a bolt to align the rocker shafts in the towers. The rocker shafts will spin in the towers otherwise.

The marks look lined up. If the car starts they are correct. A stock PCM equipped S2K will not start with either cam out of time.

Thanks Slows2K
I zipped tied the rockers before removal and never disassembled them, I reinstalled them the same way then removed the zipped ties. Can I install the cam holder bolts and continue with assembly?

Thanks

Look down the bolt hole to align the cutouts in the rocker shafts. Use a tapered punch to turn the shafts. Then the cams go in, then the caps.

Thanks, I did the rest of the install. The valve adjustment went ok. When I turned the motor by hand all the valves were going up and down. If the rocker shafts were spinning then the valves would not got up and down?

Thanks

With the bolts holding the cam towers in the rocker shafts wont spin.
