absolutely...the retainer isnt holding the valve where it needs to be...if it were me, id take the car off the road and replace all the retainers

billman, what are you looking at to determine it? The galling-like color or the wear itself?

The middle of the lobe has a sandblasted appearance. That is from contact with hardened metal powder from the retainer.

Take it apart and replace the retainers and keepers with AP2 parts.

This job is not too bad and SHOULD BE DONE with the cylinder head in place on the car. No need to remove it. Pulling the head to do retainers is like pulling the engine to change the oil

Do us all a favor when you take the cams out to do the retainers, take a pic of them broken while on the car

is that all the parts I will need to replace? are the cams in reusable condition?
another thing, should I be concerned about the button end, like the rings since I have low compression?

Can the exhaust side be replaced with AP2 retainers/keepers?
